Do not skip it. Free $MFL is free $MFL.
MFL Runs on Its Own Clock
Unlike most games, MFL does not pause when you are not playing. Seasons run in real time on 6-week cycles. Matches happen every day. Transfer windows open and close on a schedule. Registration deadlines pass whether you are ready or not. This is a living football world, and it moves with or without you.
That means when you join matters.
Joining before season registrations open, or while they are? Perfect timing. Grab a Club Pack, sign some players, and register for the upcoming season.
Joining mid-season, after registrations have closed? You have two options:
Buy a club on the marketplace that is already competing this season. You take over immediately, but you also inherit all existing player contracts and revenue share commitments. Make sure you understand what you are getting into before you buy.
Open a Club Pack and use the time to build your squad. Look out for the Kickoff League, a competition designed for new clubs and clubs that missed the main season registrations. It is the perfect way to get competitive right away without waiting for the next full season.
Owners and Agents
Most managers are both a club owner and a players' agent. You run a club, own some of your own players, and compete in leagues -- that is the full experience.
Club Owner
A club
Build a squad, set tactics, compete in leagues
Players' Agent
One or more players
Place players at clubs, develop their careers, earn from contracts
Some managers start by picking up a few players before committing to a club. Others dive straight into club ownership. Either way, most end up doing both.
First Steps as a Club Owner
Get a club. The best way to start is with a Club Pack. You receive a club license in a mystery city and country, and you are its first-ever owner. Build it from nothing. You can also buy an existing club from another manager on the marketplace.
Brand your club. Pick a name, badge, and colors. You get one free rebrand, so do not stress too much on the first try.
Scout and sign players. Your club starts empty. New managers can grab up to three Starter Packs, each containing two players. That is the fastest way to get your first squad going. You can also buy players on the marketplace or negotiate contracts with agents who own the players you want.
Set your tactics. Choose your formation, assign positions, and configure your tactical approach. This is where strategy lives.
Register for a season. Once your squad is set, register for the next season in your division. Seasons run on 6-week cycles.
Compete. Matches simulate based on your setup. Check results, adjust tactics, rotate your squad, and push for promotion.
First Steps as a Players' Agent
Acquire players. If you have not already, grab your Starter Packs (see above). Beyond that, browse the marketplace for players that fit your strategy.
Find clubs for your players. Browse clubs that need squad depth, or wait for club owners to come to you.
Negotiate contracts. Set your terms: contract length, revenue share percentage, and more. Good players command good deals.
Monitor development. Players earn XP from matches and can develop through training. A well-managed player grows in value.
Plan ahead with pre-contracts. When a player's contract is about to expire, you can negotiate their next move before they become a free agent.
Tips for New Managers
Check the contracts before buying a club on the marketplace. When you take over a club, you inherit all existing player contracts. Look at how much revenue share is committed. If the previous owner signed players at 100% revenue share for the season, you will not see any rewards at the end of it.
Do not overspend on revenue share. Offering 90% revenue share to attract star players sounds great until your club earns almost nothing from rewards. Find the balance.
Rotate your squad. Players have energy that drains over matches. If you run the same 11 every game, they will be gassed by mid-season. Use your full squad.
